This book was a really good thriller and I loved how while there were only a few key characters, the author took the time to develop them very well.

Jack Noble and his fellow Marine, Bear, are guarding the outside of a house in Afghanistan, when he sees his team leader dragging in an Iraqi family whose father is being accused of spying on them.
When the leader threatens to harm the family to get the father to talk, Jack feels the need to step in. However, shortly after he and Bear head back to the base after helping the family, he and Bear are taken into custody for the murder of their troop and the Iraqi family.
Jack pleads his innocence and later has some strings pulled to free him and Bear from custody. However, they are shot at on their way home, which makes them think that whatever happened in Afghanistan is far from over.
Little do they know that they have just uncovered one of the biggest conspiracies that flows deep within their own government…
