This book was very fast paced and I loved it. The characters were very well-developed and new characters were slowly introduced into the mix.

Alyx has a special gift that must be kept a secret.
Lately, she has been seeing visions of a mortal, hunting down the Darkened, some of the most evil creatures to roam the Earth. Moreover, Alyx feels a tie to the mortal and also a need to save his life. One time, she has a vision that the mortal is about to die and ALyx uses her powers given to her by her superiors- the Elders.
Alyx finally meets the mortal, Israel. They realize that the bond between them isn’t ordinary and that their life sources are tied together. This is a connection that has not occurred in many, many years and for some reason, the Elders are bent on Alyx never seeing Israel again.
Moreover, the Elders are attempting to rid Alyx of her powers in order to remain the most respected members of society but Alyx manages to run away and go into hiding with Israel.
However, her own people have turned on her, and the army they have sent out to find her may be too much for her to handle.
Will she survive?
