Book Review: The Rise of Nine by Pittacus Lore (Book 3 of Lorien Legacies)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Genre: Fiction

Age Recommended: 13 and up

I’m disappointed. The books in this series keep getting better, but they also keep getting shorter. I was able to finish this book in less than an hour and it was almost a hundred pages shorter than the one before it! I appreciate the authors wanting to continue the series, but it feels like they’re taking the easy way out. That being said, the book itself was fantastic and definitely tied up the loose ends from the other books.

The Gardes are all on the run. Constantly hunted by Mogadorians, they must find a way to communicate with each other and organize a meeting spot so that they can defeat their ultimate enemy, Setrákus Ra. Six, Seven, and Ten make it to India, where they meet Eight, who is seen as an incarnation of a Hindu god by the people in his country and thus generally protected from the Mogadorians.

But as soon as they begin training together, they discover that the Mogadorians are somehow able to track them, and realize that they must band together if they ever want a chance of being able to defeat Setrákus Ra. The only issue is that governments around the world seem to have allied with the Mogadorians and are capturing the Gardes at every turn.

Will the Gardes survive?
