For my AP English Language summer assignment, I was instructed to read On Writing by Stephen King, which piqued my interest in him as an author, especially since I had learned that he wrote a fair number of horror novels.
This book is my first encounter with Stephen King’s writing and it didn’t disappoint at all- the book was gripping and fantastically written. A very quick read; my only regret is that I hadn’t read it earlier.
Darcy has been married to Bob Anderson for about 25 years. She knows everything about him, or so she thinks, until she stumbles upon a box in her garage containing sadomasochistic magazines and legal documents belonging to a girl who was recently murdered.
After comparing news articles with travel logs from her husband’s diary, she realizes that the deaths of several women by a man who goes by the name of “Beadie” coincide with her husband’s business trips perfectly. A little too perfectly.
When Bob comes home, he instantly realizes that she knows about his “activities” and begins explaining the story of how this all began…
