Book Review: A Dog’s Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron

Priyanka

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars Age Recommended: Anyone and everyone (especially dog owners) Genre: Fiction An amazing book about the four lives of a dog and the true meaning of a dog’s purpose from a dog’s point of view. At this point, I can say with confidence that this is the best book I’ve ever read. Not only because it has a fantastic story or because it is incredibly well written. Not because it’s fiction. But because it’s the only book I’ve read, in recent memory, that has truly made me think about it after reading it. with most … Continue reading Book Review: A Dog’s Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron

Book Review: An Astronaut’s Guide To Life On Earth by Colonel Chris Hadfield

Priyanka

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars Genre: Non-Fiction Age Recommendation: I believe that everyone should read this book- it’s very well written! This is an extremely inspirational story about a man who persevered his whole life to achieve his dream and how he overcame all the obstacles that stood in his way. This book was my summer reading assignment and I enjoyed reading it immensely. The first time around, I was put off by the fact that this book was non-fiction and therefore could not focus. However, the second time around, I realized that this book was as good as any … Continue reading Book Review: An Astronaut’s Guide To Life On Earth by Colonel Chris Hadfield

Book Review: The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand

Priyanka

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars Genre: Fiction Age Recommendation: 13 and up I liked this book a lot and it also fit my 2015 Reading Challenge Category of: A book with a character that’s shifty. ——————————————– Alexis’ brother, Tyler,  has just committed suicide and her world seems at an end. Book Review: Quidditch Through the Ages by J.K. Rowling

Priyanka

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars Genre: Fiction (although I wish it wasn’t) Age Recommendation: EVERYONE I cannot believe that I forgot about this book. A very nice family friend gave me this book as a gift and another one: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them for my birthday! For those of you who don’t know (tsk tsk), these books are mentioned in the Harry Potter series and I am elated that J.K Rowling decided to actually write them! I hope she publishes The Monster Book of Monsters next.    😉 All in all, this was a great book and I found it … Continue reading Book Review: Quidditch Through the Ages by J.K. Rowling

Book Review: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling

Priyanka

Rating: 5 out of  stars Genre: Fiction (if only it wasn’t) Age Recommendation: Everyone (I cannot stress this enough) Another one of the amazing books mentioned in the Harry Potter series has come to life in J.K. Rowling’s hands. I found this book especially funny because it is Harry’s property and he has written his own funny notes all over the book. To be honest, I found his notes more interesting than the actual text of the book (which I am sure was the author’s intention). Also, I just realized- they’re making a movie on this book!!! It will be released next … Continue reading Book Review: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling

Sisterhood Of the Worlds Bloggers

Priyanka

Hey everyone! I recently got nominated by The Outsidehook (thank you!) for the Sisterhood of the Worlds which is basically a tag where you answer questions about yourself and then nominate other bloggers for it. The rules are: 1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and link to their blog. 2. Answer the questions that the blogger who nominated you has provided. 3. Nominate ten other bloggers (I am choosing only four-can’t think of many) 4. Create ten questions for your nominees and notify them of their nomination. Questions from the outsidehook:  What’s your favorite TV show? I’m going to say Psych … Continue reading Sisterhood Of the Worlds Bloggers

Book Review: Paint Me A Monster by Janie Baskin

Priyanka

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars Genre: Fiction Age Recommendation: 14 and up This book was very unnerving because it was centered around child abuse. When I first picked up the book, that was not what I imagined it would be about. Also, I found the book was confusing because the first hundred or so pages spanned six years (but there was no chronology) so I found it difficult to keep up with the story. ——————————————– Margo and her older sister Liz are surprised to see another being enter their house- a baby boy named Evan. Evan is a chubby boy and their … Continue reading Book Review: Paint Me A Monster by Janie Baskin

Priyanka

So it’s been exactly six months since I’ve announced my 2015 Reading Challenge, so today, I decided to post an update on how it’s going. In addition, my parents are no longer participating in this challenge 😦 but I would still like recommendations for books in the categories that I have not read yet. As of now, I have finished 12/30 books in my 2015 Reading Challenge. However, school’s out now so hopefully I will be able to write more reviews!   A book that makes you cry- The Fault In Our Stars by John Green and Maybe One Day … Continue reading My 2015 Reading Challenge: The Halfway Mark

Book Review: Free to Fall by Lauren Miller

Priyanka

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars Genre: Fiction Age Recommendation: 14 and up I loved this book but I felt that there were several unnecessary plot twists and that took away from the book. ——————————————— Rory Vaughn lives in a world of technology. A world where there are apps that make decisions for you. A world where intuition is something to be frowned upon and rationality means letting devices make all the choices for you. Rory isn’t a huge fan of technology and sees no reason to use an app to make all of her decisions. In addition, the Doubt (i.e., … Continue reading Book Review: Free to Fall by Lauren Miller
