Book Review: I Am Sleepless: Sim 299 by Johan Twiss (Book One of the I Am Sleepless series)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars Genre: Fiction Age Recommendation: 12 and up I received this book courtesy of Bookrature. This book was very thrilling and I loved the action and suspense. The beginning was confusing as there were a lot of characters with no background but as the book evolved, the characters were developed and I enjoyed it a lot. Also, this was a pretty long book, in contrast to some of the other ARCs I’ve read recently, which made it all the more enjoyable. ———————————————— Aidan and his two best friends are part of a military organization in … Continue reading Book Review: I Am Sleepless: Sim 299 by Johan Twiss (Book One of the I Am Sleepless series)

Book Review: Amelia’s Story by D. G. Torrens

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars Genre: Realistic Fiction Age Recommended: 14 and up This book was quite disturbing yet very well-written. The author had obviously put a lot of thought into how this story would develop which I appreciated. I wish some of the characters in the book had more intrigue. From the get-go, there were good characters and bad characters, and you could tell who was what from the outset. Some readers would appreciate this, but I personally, would like a little more suspense. —————————————- Amelia and her brother Jake live with their abusive mother. She beats them daily … Continue reading Book Review: Amelia’s Story by D. G. Torrens

Book Review: Jack by Gary Dorion (Book One of a trilogy)

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars Genre: Historical Fiction Age recommended: 10 and up I didn’t really like this book until about halfway through where the historical aspect of the book came in. Until then, I felt that the book was extremely redundant and that the first 50 or so pages were completely unnecessary. —————————– Jack Stone is an extremely mischievous boy living in Charleston, Georgia during the pre-Civil War era (1860). He almost never attends school and enjoys pranking his teacher, whom he is supposed to refer to as Master. Master is a white man whose views of the … Continue reading Book Review: Jack by Gary Dorion (Book One of a trilogy)

I feel that the author could have further developed some of the supporting characters further. However, the storyline was fascinating and I feel that a lot of people are likely … Continue reading Book Review: Pleased to Meet You by Annaluisa Socher

Book Review: All Fall Down by Ally Carter (Book 1 of the Embassy Row series)

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars Genre; Fiction Age Recommendation: 13 and up I came across this book on the list of top young adult books in 2015 on seventeen.com: http://www.seventeen.com/celebrity/g1333/best-ya-novels-coming-out-2015/. This book was very well written but I felt that it was a bit redundant at times. Moreover, the descriptors in this book weren’t very accurate and a lot was left up to one’s imagination. However, the author did clarify a few things later in the book, which oddly made things more confusing. Overall, this book was captivating and I enjoyed it immensely.
