Book review: The Iliad by Homer

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars Genre: Non-Fiction Age Recommended: 13 and up This book is quite long, dense, and a compilation of 24 books. This book was gifted to me by a close family friend. The book is really interesting, but since it is an old translation, there are some arcane terms. I read it with a dictionary by my side! ——————————————————– Nine years after the start of the Trojan War, the Greek (Achaean) army attacks Chryse, a town allied with Troy. During the battle, the Achaeans capture a pair of beautiful maidens, Chryseis and Briseis. Agamemnon, the leader of the … Continue reading Book review: The Iliad by Homer

November Recap

November was a little slow… I think it was because of all of my school preparations I was doing. But I should still have time to write a few reviews… Got to get the blog up to speed…       🙂 My favorite book in November was the Red Magician, mainly because of the suspense and fantasy. I hope all of you get a chance to read it because it is truly an incredible book. Continue reading November Recap

Book Review and Interview with Author: The Red Magician by Lisa Goldstein

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars Genre: Fiction with a little fantasy Age Recommended: 12 and up This story was a little creepy at times but overall it was great. It was set in the time of WWII and I really liked that the author combined the idea of witchcraft with WWII, making it seem as if they were related. Read below to see my interview of the author, Lisa Goldstein. — WWII has begun. Kicsi is a young girl who lives in a rural village. One night, a man named Voros comes to her village, and speaks of death and … Continue reading Book Review and Interview with Author: The Red Magician by Lisa Goldstein

Book Review: Torment by Lauren Kate (Book two of the Fallen series)

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars Genre: Fiction Age Recommended: 13 and up “Love was supposed to be easy, wasn’t it?” I think that Fallen’s plot was a little better than Torment’s. This book had too many new characters and the story became hard to follow. Also, if you haven’t read the book review of Fallen (book one of the Fallen series), you can check it out here: https://priyankareads.com/2014/10/20/book-review-fallen-by-lauren-kate/   —————————————————— Luce is now at a new school. This one looks rather friendly and the students there seem decent too. Daniel visits Luce, breaking the rules, and tells her that her two … Continue reading Book Review: Torment by Lauren Kate (Book two of the Fallen series)

Blog Tour: Every Breath by Ellie Marney

Hi! I recently joined the Every Breath blog tour and along with receiving a hardcover copy of the book (courtesy of Tundra Books),  I also got to interview Ellie Marney! These are my questions for her, along with her answers: Q: What inspired you to start writing? A: Just the normal thing, I guess, and a very overactive imagination. I was always one of those kids who was genuinely convinced that teddy bears came alive at night when everyone else was asleep, and that fairies lived at the bottom of the garden. My paternal grandmother had a store of Irish folk tales … Continue reading Blog Tour: Every Breath by Ellie Marney
